A joy to do business with
When we hear our customers use the words above to describe their shopping experience at Lewis & Ayling it brings us great joy. To enable that to happen we have explained below how we do business and what you can expect from us.
Driven by passion
There is nothing we do not love about working with Plaster of Paris, serving our customers or the day to day running of the business. The artwork, the craftwork, the houses, the history, the process, the customers and the very feel of it in the mixing bucket. In short this is our passion.
Focused on clients
This is where our journey begins. Without you, we cannot do what we do best. Conversation can be the key to that, so please talk to us about your experience, did our products meet your expectation and what can we do to improve?
Quality Product
Quality is our first guiding principle at Lewis & Ayling. Our range may not be huge (it is growing) but you can guarantee that each item is designed and made with quality the watch word throughout.
Safe on line
We have to admit, but we are a bit old school. The world of tech is of course important but human interaction we value higher. To that end we spent a long time evaluating which services we would employ. We opted to keep our internet operation within the EU. Our website is self run and hosted in Holland by Webador and our payment processing is carried out by the internationally respected organisation STRIPE who are based in Ireland.
Life is real
We consider ourselves artist craftspeople and to that end we loathe AI. Our only known use of AI in creating the images for this website is the removal of backgrounds in order for you to better see the products we offer. If we do post images of products in an actual house setting, it will be the real thing 'shadows n all' and absolutely no Hollywood CGI generated room set...that is just not us.
Putting your order together
We make our products to go into stock and are mostly able to despatch from order within a day depending on when the order is received. Turn around from order to delivery is usually 3-5 working days. In the rare event that orders have overtaken our stock levels, we will immediately inform you of the situation to find out how you wish to proceed - either a full refund if the anticipated dispatch date doesn't suit you or to provide you with an expected delivery date.
Delivery
We despatch you parcel with either DPD or the Royal Mail parcel service depending on the type of parcel being delivered. The vast majority of our parcels arrive within 2 working days following order. At the point of dispatch we will inform you of tracking details so that if you wish, you can arrange independently with DPD for a suitable delivery time. If the parcel has been dispatched via Royal Mail you will receive a tracking number to follow delivery progress. The carrier choice we make will depend on best area coverage. If your parcel has not arrived by the anticipated or stated delivery date, please do not hesitate to contact us, in order for us to trace the delivery on your behalf.
Sometimes things go wrong
We have all experienced it - that missing package or worse the broken item. By its very nature, plaster is a very very fragile thing. That is why we take enormous care to ensure all our parcels sent out are carefully packed with packaging designed to survive a trip to the moon. Alas, even then breakages can occur. If this is the situation you find yourself in, please do not hesitate to contact us in order for us to chase the carrier and register the breakage but more importantly, to ensure an immediate replacement or refund is on its way to you. If you find on arrival that our product doesn't meet you expectation, fear not. just let us know and we will guide you through returning the product to us for a refund.
limiting our environmental harm
This is a huge one for us. \No business can exist without making some environmental impact, even a little one like ours. We take this aspect of business life extremely seriously. Right down to the organisation that processes our online payments we make efforts to mitigate our impact. You will notice at the point of payment, 1% of the transaction goes towards Co2 capture via Stripe. Gypsom which makes plaster is a quarried mineral - that cannot be found without impact. To that end all our waste plaster is reprocessed and we only buy raw plaster from those firms with active climate protection policies in place. We go further though. We have just purchased some derelict scrubland and are busy recreating a natural woodland and community orchard, in an attempt to offset our impact.
